Obituary of Maria "Jozsa" Takacs

Maria "Jozsa" Takacs, 73, of Iselin, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the Roosevelt Care Center in Edison. Born and raised in Saraspatok, Hungary, Maria married her love, Louis Takacs in 1966. They emigrated to the United Sates in 1967 and lived in Perth Amboy, before moving to Iselin fifty years ago. Mrs. Takacs was employed as a Dietary Aide by the J.F.K. Medical Center in Edison for over twenty years before retiring in 2010. She was a member of Magyar Reformed Church of Perth Amboy, and donated much of her time to help with church fundraising with her passion for cooking. Maria's family meant the world to her and she took great pleasure in taking care of her two boys and her husband of fifty-three years. She was the true matriarch of the family. She enjoyed baking and cooking Hungarian dishes and loved spending time with her six grandchildren. She will be remembered as a strong woman who devoted her life to caring for those around her. Maria was predeceased by a brother Gyorgy Heinrich. Surviving are her loving husband Louis Takacs, her two sons: Lou Takacs and wife Lauren of Bridgewater, and Ted Takacs and wife Margy of Raleigh, NC, her two brothers: Miklos Heinrich, her twin, and Sandor Heinrich both of Hungary, her six grandchildren: Danielle, Michael,Sampras, Graelyn, Ronan and Jaspar and many nieces and nephews in Hungary. Funeral services will be held Monday 10:00 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, Inc., 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Hopelawn. Visitation hours will be held Sunday from 1 - 4 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Rutgers Cancer Institute in New Brunswick.
