Rose M. Scala, 91, of Fords, passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Bayshore Health Care Center in Holmdel. Mrs. Scala was born in Fords to the late Michael and Anna Shimko and had lived in Perth Amboy and Hopelawn before returning to Fords. Rose had been employed by Merck, Johnson & Johnson and RCA. Most recently she was employed by Revlon in Edison, where she was affectionately known as "Momma Rose", for fifteen years before retiring in 1991. She was a member of Good Shepherd Parish - Holy Spirit Church in Perth Amboy. Mrs. Scala loved playing Bingo. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Amedeo in 1991, and also by her sister Anna Yura and brother Joseph Shimko. Surviving are her daughter: Donna M. Chrzanowski and husband Michael of Aberdeen, her two grandchildren, Amy and David, and her two nieces; Gloria Christiansen and Patricia Glendenning. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 9:30 am at the Mitruska Funeral Home, 531 New Brunswick Ave., Fords. Followed by a 10:00 am mass in the Good Shepherd Parish- Most Holy Rosary Church in Hopelawn. Interment will follow in the St. James Cemetery also in Hopelawn. Visitation hours will be held Monday from 2 - 6 pm.
